The next Grays River Stakeholders meeting will be April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon in the River Street Meeting Room in Cathlamet. Chris May, Ph.D., of Batelle/Pacific NW National Labs, will present his final report on the Upper Grays River Study funded by the Bonneville Power Administration. Dr. May is a senior research engineer and watershed ecologist who led the study team.
Their report will provide important information that will be incorporated into planning the Gorley Springs habitat restoration project recently funded by BPA. The Lower Columbia Fish Recovery Board will facilitate the advisory committee that will work together to develop designs for the projects to be done over the next three years. No projects have been designed as yet, but it is hoped that with the participation of all entities involved, including the Grays River Habitat Enhancement District, the projects developed will serve all the landowners of the Grays River Valley.
All stakeholder meetings are open to the public, and all landowners along the Grays River are encouraged to attend to hear the report and ask questions.
The stakeholders group includes national and state habitat agencies, funders, landowners, and others interested in all the watersheds of the County. For more information, call Karen Bertroch, Stakeholders Facilitator, at (360) 465-2414.
