The South Bend Indians handed the Wahkiakum Mules a 28-6 loss in non-league football last Friday. "We couldn't stop Ben Byington," Mule Coach Eric Hansen said. Wahkiakum School District has announced that middle school volleyball and football starts on August 21. Volleyball practice is from 3:15-5:15 p.m. A parent meeting will follow in the gym to talk about the season. Wahkiakum High School football begins next week. There will be a parent meeting for the athletes at the high school at 6 p.m. on August 15. Practice begins six hours later, at midnight on August 16. 8 Wahkiakum High School graduate Baylee Olsen has announced her intention to transfer to Cal State San Marcos in San Diego this fall, where she will play basketball for the Cougars. Olsen had two great seasons with Saint Martins University in Lacey. This year she set a conference record, hitting seven of seven from three point range during a game with Holy Names. After the Wahkiakum Mules took third place in 2B State baseball, Hank Ferguson returned to Wheeler Field in Centralia on June 1 to play in the 40th annual Senior All Star Baseball game.
