Cathlamet resident Trevor Batchelor was arrested on November 17 when the Lower Columbia SWAT team served a search warrant at his home on Columbia Street along with the agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and LPD Street Crimes Detectives. This brings the cumulative total to 261, with seven cases considered to be potentially active. The Cathlamet Town Council voted Monday to cease operations at the Community Center in Cathlamet as soon as possible and form a committee to determine future operation. The center is a town facility operated on a contract with Wahkiakum County. The county has used grants and contracts with outside service agencies to fund center operations, but the funding has disappeared, and the center has been operated by volunteers. Washington State Department of Transportation announced Tuesday evening that the slope adjacent to SR 401, also known as Lewis and Clark Trail Highway, between the Astoria-Megler Bridge at and Knappton Road has been stabilized, and the roadway is now open.
