One day Spring was coming and the next it was here. Plants are popping up and growing at a fast clip. Some of mine are already surrounded by grass I have to get after or the plants will never be seen. The rain gets the grass growing quickly so if grass isn't cut regularly, then it's a big challenge to get it under control. On the other hand, it IS spring! Stevenson Bulldogs 7, Mules 6 On April 19, the Mules took the lead in the first inning and maintained it until the bulldogs pulled ahead in the sixth inning, clinching Stevenson a spot in the district tournament and eliminating the Mules in the process. On Monday, Wahkiakum Health and Human Services reported that six more people had tested positive for covid-19 in Wahkiakum County, bringing the cumulative total to 114. On April 15, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) announced that a one-lane bypass has opened on SR 401 where a slide closed the highway near the Megler-Astoria bridge. On Monday, the Washington State Department of Transportation’s (WSDOT) emergency contractor Big River Excavating began clearing debris to make way for a temporary road around a damaged section of SR 401 south of Naselle with the intent of restoring travel along SR 401 between Naselle and Megler by mid-April.
