Protestors spent two days last week outside the Naselle School objecting to mask requirements at the school. The first day, Tuesday, Feb. 8, was a state wide day for protesting. District Tournament Summary Class 1B The Naselle Comet girls basketball team beat Willapa Valley 33-24 in the District 4 1B championship last Saturday. A forfeit from the Washington School for the Deaf on Friday automatically advanced the Naselle girls in the district tournament. On Monday, they continued with a win against Mary M. Knight, 62-8. Today I hope you will pause and think of Wilho Saari from Naselle. He has had a stroke and is now under hospice care at Columbia Memorial Hospital. He is a man who loves his family, Finnish music, children and Finland. He taught music, has written a "tune every day," for many years, has CD's of kantele music, and shared his gift for the kantele with anyone who wanted to listen. A day of heavy rainfall last week has left Wahkiakum County residents dealing with flooding and other storm related incidents. Heavy rain arrived last Wednesday and kept coming into Thursday, melting the previous snowfall to send streams out of their banks and hillsides sliding down onto roads.
