Spring is definitely in the air with the smell of cherry blossoms, fresh mown grass, and many of the wildflowers beginning to bloom. The dogs are shedding their winter coats, and if you brush them outside and leave the fur, the birds are in a mad rush to pick it up and carry it off. Joanne Marie Chapman, who loved to be called Jo, was born in Longview on October 2, 1970 to parents Ken Chapman and Sonja Kruse of Rosburg. Joanne passed away peacefully March 18, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center with her family by her side. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I had found my first trillium. Well, on my walk with the dogs yesterday, I hit the jackpot. There must have been 300 trilliums in one little area of our woods. They were just beautiful, and I had never seen so many, so I picked my first bouquet to enjoy in the house. The hummingbirds are back in full force and they sure are hungry little devils.
