The energy was contagious at the first annual Warriors, Widows and Heroes event last Thursday at the Elochoman Slough Marina. Elmer has a great big wonderful grin, but he's still too shy to talk very much. After three and a half years of frustrations and not knowing if it would actually happen, this 10 year old boy from the Pangasinan Province in the Philippines has finally come home. Rosburg residents Poul and Zenaida Toftemark were finally able to put a cap on the adoption process and bring Elmer to the states. "Every year we go home to the Philippines, where I am from," Zenaida Toftemark said. "The grandkids would...

Only a little more than a week before the kids have to hit the books with the start of the new school year. With such a nice warm and dry summer there may be some apprehension for staying indoors for classes. Such is life and I hope everyone has a safe and successful school year. We live in such a close knit community, and have an award winning system and team teaching our kids so I’m w...
COOLER--Last week's cooler weather certainly made me happy, as the bright sunny days were almost getting to be annoying. I was tired of hiding from the heat and sweating when I had to venture out in it. I know, the heat lovers are booing me, and I may regret wishing for rain, as once it starts, it may never stop, but for now, I was happy to see the rain that fell on Sunday. SPECIAL DAYS--Those celebrating birthdays from August 13-19 are Tim Schmitz, Jessica Scheik, Judy Smith, Kathleen Morgain, Steve McClain, Addy Hauff, Tyna Zink, Kassy Burdic...
