  • Hooray! The highway has finally reopened

    Kay Chamberlain|Nov 5, 2015

NOT NICE--We certainly ended October in a wet and wild fashion, as the rains came down, the creeks went up and between the wind and the rain, most of the leaves that were left on the trees, came down into the fields and roadways; it was not nice! As November began on Sunday, there was a ray of hope as I saw a bit of sunshine, but that was quickly replaced with more heavy downpours, more blustery winds, and some thunder and lightning just for good measure! Seemed weird to have the sun come out, although it was fairly brief, but at any rate, it...

  • Fall activities continue with events to come

    Trudy Fredrickson|Oct 15, 2015

It was so nice to see a little rain again. The leaves are sure showing that fall is in the air even though the temperature doesn’t seem to be reflecting that. This has always been my favorite time of the year. I love the slowing down of growth, new life taking on a whole new chapter of adventure moving in to the colder and quieter time of winter rest, only to begin again in the spring. News from Naselle Sports calendar for the Naselle Comet teams for the coming week include: Thursday, middle school football with Ocosta at Westport at 6 p.m., h...

  • Columbus Day storm anniversary Monday

    Kay Chamberlain|Oct 8, 2015

NICE START--As this week begins, it's pretty doggone nice out there, and instead of fall, it seems like summer has returned. Of course, by the time you read this, we may be back to a cooling trend, so we'll be more normal for this time of year. Whenever we are still mowing our lawns every week in October, you know it's still pretty decent out there! The only thing I didn't enjoy about this wonderful weather was the bombardment of lady bugs and other insects, which just seemed to be everywhere! However, several forecasters are talking about the...

  • SR 4 culvert work nearly finished

    Diana Zimmerman|Oct 1, 2015

One SR 4 culvert project was completed on Tuesday near Naselle, and, if all goes well, the remaining project to replace two culverts on the highway near of Cathlamet will finish in mid-October, just a couple weeks later than its expected finish date. With 11 reported traffic accidents or incidents on the Risk Road detour since August 17, and an almost constant flood of complaints to the sheriff's office about reckless or speeding drivers, it can't come soon enough. "We had to get approval from...
