    The Mules jumped out to an early 11-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 60-36 season-opening victory over the visiting Naselle Comets Friday night to reclaim the KM Trophy.     The Wahkiakum Lady Mules outscored the Kalama Chinooks 12-4 in the fourth quarter to earn a 53-45 basketball victory on Monday in Kalama. The Mules led 29-22 at halftime. Kalama led 42-41 at the end of three quarters. Blaine Land and Brieanna Olsen scored 14 points apiece to lead the Mules. Haylee Budd had seven, Ellie Crouse six, Maya Stanley five, Rachel Patching three and Marissa Washington two. Born September 11, 1923 in Valley, Washington, Mary was a long-time resident of Hoquiam, Washington until her marriage to Robert “Bob” Fauver when she moved to Deep River.     Wahkiakum County's two judges have proposed a major expansion of the Courthouse Annex to improve the security of the courts. Superior Court Judge Michael Sullivan and District Court Judge William Faubion met with the board of commissioners to discuss the proposal and other security issues on Monday. "There's no money," was the basic response of Commissioners Blair Brady, Dan Cothren and Lisa Marsyla.     The good news from Wahkiakum Health and Human Services is that, so far this fall, the flu season is light. The bad news is that the county is seeing a surge of chlamydia cases among people ages 18-24.
