    Story and photos by Diana Zimmerman Seventh grade students recently raised more than $400 in a popular Kiss the Donkey contest at J.A. Wendt Elementary and John C. Thomas Middle School. Last week, the winners-or losers-depending on perspective, got a chance to plant his or her lips on a donkey in front of a roaring crowd of young students.     The Washington State Department of Early Learning (DEL) has selected 17 parents to represent 10 regions as members of the newly established Parent Advisory Group (PAG).     It was a much quieter affair than it was 30 years ago when the rivalry between the Mules and Comets ran strong. The upper bleachers weren't even pulled out on Tuesday when the 1B Naselle Comets came to town to open the boys basketball season with the Wahkiakum Mules.     The Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team began their season at the R.A. Long Jamboree on Monday. They played two 10 minute games, beating R.A. Long in the first and losing to Mark Morris in the second. In game one, the Lady Mules beat the Jills, 24-14. Savannah Burdick led the team in scoring with nine points. She also had four rebounds.
