    Shops were open in downtown Cathlamet on Saturday, and it was hard to find a parking spot as dusk settled in. A crowd had gathered in front of the courthouse for the annual holiday lighting and children were waiting for Santa Claus. Down the street, Tina Merz's seventh grade class was raising money to provide Christmas for local families. A bake sale and a hay ride raised over $300.   • Commissioners work on dredging issues

    Wahkiakum County commissioners approved transportation plans for 2016 and beyond and worked on other issues when they met Tuesday. Besides working on road construction and ferry improvement plans, the board discussed progress on placing dredged sand on eroding properties. The board approved a contract with Coast and Harbor Engineering for engineering design and permitting for several bank nourishment sites on Puget Island.     Judge Michael Sullivan November 16, 2015 Donna Buck, of Puget Island, went before a jury on Monday, November 16, 2015 to face charges for bail jumping on a felony. When conflicting information about the time she was to turn herself in came to light, the defense and prosecutor agreed to lower the charge to bail jumping on a misdemeanor. The jury was dismissed and Buck pleaded guilty to the lesser charge, for which she will be required to serve 90 days, in addition to her earlier sentence of 90 days.
