The Wahkiakum High School Key Club will hold a rummage sale next Thursday, 12-3 p.m., in the Wendt Elementary School Multipurpose Room, 265 S. 3rd St., Cathlamet. Madison Mace has been chosen as the Wahkiakum Lions Club November Student of The Month. She is on the varsity basketball team again this year. She loves the outdoors and outdoor sports. Madison has been accepted into The National Honor Society which allows her to tutor younger students. She hopes to go to Clatsop Community College, study radiology and get her Associates Degree to become an ex-ray technician. Wahkiakum County's final tally of general election ballots on Tuesday produced no changes from previous totals. Incumbent Mayor Dale Jacobson won a close election for mayor, 72-65, over write-in candidate Laurel Waller. When votes were first counted Nov. 7, Waller led 58-53. In the second round, Jacobson led 69-65, and when votes were counted Nov. 17, he added three more to his total. Waller had filed as a candidate for Council Position 5 and defeated write-in candidate Jean Burnham, who was appointed to the council earlier this year, 99-43....
The North Coast Chorale’s winter concert will be held Friday, Dec. 8, and Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Performing Arts Center, 588-16th, Astoria. All children 10 years old and younger are invited to a Christmas party on Sunday December 3 from 2-4 p.m., at the Norse Hall on Puget Island, State Route 409. Razor clam diggers will have the opportunity to fill their limits during a four-day dig beginning Dec. 1 on various ocean beaches. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the Dec. 1-4 dig on evening tides after marine toxin tests show the clams are safe to eat. No digging will be allowed before noon. Some areas have a mix of both large and small razor clams. Wahkiakum High School will host a donkey basketball game on Dec. 3, 12 noon. The event will raise funds for school athletic programs.
