The Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team brought home an eighth place trophy after an initial loss to Tri-Cities Prep sent them to the loser's bracket in the double elimination tournament State 2B tournament in Yakima last Thursday. In the first round, the Lady Mules lost to Tri-Cities in five sets, 25-21, 27-29, 17-25, 25-23, and 9-15. It wasn't easy, but the third ranked Tri-Cities Prep Jaguars managed to defeat the 14th ranked Wahkiakum Mules 35-28 in overtime in the opening round of the state Class 2B football playoffs on Saturday. Taylor Gudmundsen, Naselle, Volleyball (SR) is one of the athletes of the week honored this week by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA). Gudmundsen led her team to a seventh place finish at last week’s State Tournament in Yakima. She racked up 119 assists, 41 digs, 15 kills, and 13 aces in four matches.
