Much like the tornado earlier in the week, the Wahkiakum Mini-Mules Youth Football tore through Kelso, ripping through the previously undefeated Longview Youth Football (Longshore) team for a 30-6 win. OLYMPIA – The gypsy moth—a destructive forest pest that causes millions of dollars of damage each year in the U.S.—showed up again in Washington this past summer. The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) caught 27 gypsy moths in five counties, equaling the number detected in 2012 but far more than the single catch found in 2013. OLYMPIA – A new version of the draft 2015-21 Game Management Plan for Washington state will be available for public comment for one month, starting Oct. 17. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) will consider comments on the revised plan received through Nov. 17, before recommending a final plan for adoption by the Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission. OLYMPIA - Fishery managers in Washington and Oregon are seeking candidates to fill positions on advisory committees that provide guidance on sport and commercial fishing issues on the Columbia and Snake rivers. The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team won two more matches this week, making them 6-2 in league and 11-2 overall. The Lady Mules beat the Lady Loggers in Onalaska in three sets on Monday, 25-19, 25-18, and 25-23. Coach Kayli Hurley praised Savannah Burdick for her consistent serve receive.
