    Diana Zimmerman|Mar 26, 2015

Sheriff Mark Howie promised to paint his beard pink if more than 30 people attended Family Night last Saturday in the multipurpose room at J.A. Wendt Elementary School. Sixty-four kids and adults showed up to make sure he made good on that promise, and on Monday, in front of an audience, seventh grade student Stephanie Hake painted Howie's hairy chin pink, though it looked purple from a distance. He wore it with pride and good humor for 24 hours, but the bright hue had disappeared by Tuesday. He...

Now St. James’ Executive Director Beth Hansen and members of the board of directors are waiting to see what will happen. Every y...

  • More notice needed to plan for events

    Mar 26, 2015

To The Eagle: For those of you who are planning events, please remember that you need at least two advance announcements in The Eagle prior to your event (not the day of the event) as having something announced on the day you're going to have it, like on a Thursday, really makes no sense. There are many of us who get our paper in the mail, so if your event happens to be held in the morning hours, we don't even receive the paper until the event is over. Not to mention, people have to plan their days, or take some time off and so events/meetings/...

  • Hosanna Musicale Sunday at SUMC

    Kay Chamberlain|Mar 26, 2015

OFF AND ON--The first day of Spring saw the skies "springing a leak" after several wonderfully warm days. The weekend started out with pounding rains which made the TV signal go out at times, so it was not a nice start to the day. However, it did wind up improving as the day went by. It was back to the wind and rain on Sunday morning, but once again, it turned out decent so folks were still out in their flower beds and staying busy. I hear we'll be basking in a couple of full days of sunshine by the time you read this, so let's hope the...
