    Rosie D. Jameson, 95, formerly of Cathlamet, died on October 15, 2016 in Vader at her daughter's home. She was born on July 14, 1921 in Heartville, MO., to William and Gertrude (Olds) Doris. She and John were married on Dec.24, 1941 in Idaho and moved to Cathlamet in 1956 where they lived until John's death in 2002. Rosie was a member of Assembly of God Church (now River of Life) teaching Sunday School and was a member of the Women's Missions.     Our county recycling bins have been repainted, our recycling website is operational, we have several businesses recycling items that cannot go into our county bins, the school district is recycling in all grades, the recycling education program returns to school this week, and we need your help to get it right.     Howard and Judy Brawn's champion Irish wolfhound, Carroy Tory Cathey's Valley Girl, returned from an Irish Wolfhound Specialty Show in Petaluma, CA last week.     Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday discussed the future of the county's four flood control zone districts (FCZD) and how to handle land owners reluctant to participate in beach nourishment projects.     Commissioners of Port District No. 2 adopted a balanced $638,955 budget for 2017 when they met Tuesday. The port expects to start 2017 with a $500,000 balance on hand. They expect $203,300 in non-operating revenue (taxes and grants) and $435,655 in operating revenue (park fees, sand sales and so on). They expect $39,250 in non-operating expense (interest and sales and leasehold taxes), $284,705 in salaries and other operating expenses, and $315,000 in capital projects.     A precipitous drop in the abundance of the upper Columbia River steelhead run means there will be no fishing season for them this year in northcentral Washington. Jeff Korth, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) northcentral regional fish program manager, said the run is only 33 percent of the 10-year average of counts at Priest Rapids Dam.     The Wahkiakum Mules cross country team competed in a Greater St. Helen’s League 2A meet in Woodland October 12. Teams from R.A. Long, Woodland, and Cedar Tree Classical Christian were there. Kyrah Scuito was the lone member of the girls team to run. She finished the 5,000 meter race in 35:30.19 and took 18th place. Alex Peachey Mellis led the Mule boys to take 22nd place.     In wet and sloppy conditions, the Toledo Indians pounded the Wahkiakum Mules for a 41-12 Victory last Friday. Toledo scored twice and the Mules once in the first quarter as the hosts took a 14-6 lead. The Mules' touchdown came on a 15-yard pass play from Lucas Brown to Hank Ferguson.
