    The Cathlamet Town Council worked over its 2010 budget in a Monday evening workshop. In his budget message, Mayor Dick Swart had told the council the projected ending balance was only $10,000, which, he said, "is far too low to meet state standards for a minimally prudent 2010 ending balance for a town of Cathlamet's size." After discussion with retiring Clerk/Treasurer Sylvia Costich, the council set a target of around $30,000 for an ending balance.     October 8 at Millersylvania State Park "It was a fast race," said Mule Coach Mike Riley. "New course records were set in both the boys and girls varsity races. "Even though our boys varsity team ran some good times, it seemed we were off a little. It may be because we had four runners and were not able to compete as a team.     A workshop on "what to do when your child gets sick" will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 7 at St. James Family Center in Cathlamet. The workshop focuses on health care for young children up to the age of five; all Wahkiakum families and other families from the surrounding area are welcome to enroll.
