Lower Columbia College has announced that Author, Poet and Artist Krysten Ralston will be featured at the October 18 Northwest Voices event in Longview. The event features the author’s latest work, Ink Blots. The author will present a writing workshop at 4:00 p.m. in Main 148 on the Lower Columbia College campus. The Lower Columbia College Fighting Smelt Speech & Debate Team finished 3rd place in 2-year college sweepstakes at the Steve Hunt Classic tournament hosted by Lewis & Clark College. This was the first tournament of the year for the Fighting Smelt, and it also kicked off the Northwest Forensics Conference (NFC) season. The Wahkiakum Mules lost two games and won one this week to bring their record to 2-2 in league and 5-7 overall. The Lady Mules picked up a non-league game against Hudson Bay in Vancouver last Wednesday and lost in four sets, 25-23, 17-25, 27-29, 25-27. Toledo's Riverhawks overcame a Wahkiakum Mule rally and left Cathlamet with a 47-14 Central League football victory last Friday. Toledo led 21-0 as the second quarter was coming to an end when the Mules struck back.
