The Mules received the opening kickoff and marched deep into MWP territory, but a blitzing defender stole a handoff. MWP took advantage of the shift in momentum and went up 6-0 at 3:49 of the first quarter. MWP boosted the lead to 12-0 at 9:18 of the second quarter.     The Wahkiakum Mule volleyball team lost two league matches this week. The Toutle Lake Ducks brought their game and pink uniforms to Tuesday's Pink Out match in honor of Brandi Knowles Thomas and Breast Cancer Awareness.     On Saturday, Jenelle Olsen and Todd Succee of Lake Stevens celebrated Phoenix's Best in Field win at the final 2014 lure coursing field tests and trials at the Howard and Judy Brawn's Misty Rivers Plantation on Puget Island.     The Wahkiakum Youth Football team won their home game 20-0 against Kelso's NW Auto team, on Saturday at Wahkiakum High School. In the first half, Gabe Moon scored on a three yard quarterback keeper to the right for a touchdown to go up 6-0. In the third quarter, Jake Leitz scored the Mini-Mules second touchdown with a six yard sweep to the right to put the team up 12-0.     The Wahkiakum Mule cross country team traveled to Ilwaco last Thursday to compete in the Joe William’s Black Lake Invite, a three mile race for high school runners. Elliott Haney took the best time for the boys with a 21:46.4. He came in 30th place. Luke Stacey took 37th with a time of 22:12.5 and Nevan Bingham placed 45th with a time of 22:49.4.
