  • Sunday fire burns Rosedale residence

    The District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance were called out early Sunday morning when a structure fire was reported in the Rosedale area. After more than two hours, fire crews were able to get the home, which had been fully engulfed in flames, under control, according to the Sheriff’s Report.     OLYMPIA — The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will receive briefings on proposed changes to sportfishing rules in the Columbia River Basin and the development of the 2015-2021 statewide Game Management Plan during its meeting Sept. 26-27 in Pasco.     The Wahkiakum Mules suited up 18 players last Friday to take on sixth ranked Adna Pirates in a Central League football game, and they gave the Pirates all they could handle in a 28-20 overtime Mule loss. The two team battled back and forth in regular time. Adna took a 14-6 lead at 2:19 of the third quarter on a safety. The Pirates had punted, and the ball rolled dead on the Mule 1-yard line.     The Mule volleyball team won two matches this week, defeating Ilwaco on the road last Thursday and meeting Morton White Pass at home on Tuesday. Last Thursday in Ilwaco, the Mules swept the Fishermen 25-17, 25-18 and 25-6. Peyton Souvenir had four aces and 14 assists, Kennedi LaBerge had six aces and two kills.
