The Cape Horn fire which began in the early morning hours of August 7 is considered to be under a status of control, according to Jeff Bortner, the Department of Natural Resources Wildland Fire District Manager for Pacific Cascade Region. The scene of the 5-10 acre fire, about five miles east of Cathlamet, will continue to be monitored for a couple weeks before its status is changed to out.
