She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Rolly; two sons, Steven Armstrong and Mark (Amy) Armstrong; two daughters, Beth Corcoran and Kirsten (Marty Dick) Gunderson; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlin (Elias) Scarborough, Michael (Rachel) Corcoran, Dean Corcoran, Kenzie Dick, Rylie Dick, Lexie Dick and Ben Armstrong. She was raised in California and worked as a cashier at a casino in Lake Tahoe for 24 years, retiring in 1988, when she came to Cathlamet. Ryna spent her retirement between Cathlamet, Arizona and California. While living in Cathlamet she attended St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.     Noreen Gayle Holten, 78, of Cathlamet, died at her home on August 9, 2013. She was born on July 29, 1935 in Tacoma to John and Nell (Evans) Smythe. She was raised in Chehalis where she graduated from high school in 1952. She attended Centralia Junior College and in 1954 she married Bud Holten. In 1959 they moved from Bellingham to Skamokawa, later moving to their home in Cathlamet. In 1979 Noreen began her career of 28 years at the Cathlamet City Library. She enjoyed her work there.     Commissioners of Port District No. 1 decided last Wednesday to commit $60,000 as a share for construction of a building to house a brewery at the Elochoman Slough Marina. Commissioners had two bids last week for the construction project, both were over the engineer's estimate of $4.5 million.     Wahkiakum County commissioners voted 2-1 to approve a closure of Steamboat Slough Road during the construction of a setback dike on the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge. The closure is authorized to run August 20 through October 20. The closure will start where the road intersects with SR 4 near the Elochoman River Bridge and run roughly 3.5 miles.
