    Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including: July 13 — 2:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was complaining of abdominal pain and vomiting a green and yellow bile. 11:48 a.m. Dispatch received an open 911 call from a Skamokawa address.     Katherine Lee Rostad, at 66 years old, died on July 18, 2020, of a 12-year battle against cancer. She was the loving wife of Bjarne Rostad. They spent 42 wonderful years together. Born in Longview, Washington, on March 17, 1954, she was the beautiful daughter of Oral and Thelma Thompson. She graduated from Columbia River High School, and Lewis and Clark College.   • Ballot drop box locations

    The Wahkiakum County Elections Department has installed three new ballot drop boxes throughout the county. These boxes will give an additional option for voters to cast their ballots if they choose not to participate in vote by mail. These boxes will be open for the 18-day period preceding election day.   • Covid-19 update: Wahkiakum adds 6th case; courthouse to open Monday

    A sixth case of covid-19 was reported in Wahkiakum County, according to the Department of Health website on Tuesday, with 331 tests having been conducted so far. Nearby, the Cowlitz County case load is up to 374 cases, with 242 remaining active. Pacific County is reporting 26 cases.     The Lower Columbia Sr Babe Ruth baseball team travelled once again to Ernie Aiken Field in Astoria, Oregon on Monday afternoon to take on the Vancouver Mavericks. Lower Columbia had just come off a two game split against "The Yard" baseball club of Salem, Ore. The team played both contests at the Salem- Keizer Volcano's stadium in Keizer.     The WIAA Executive Board took action on Tuesday to modify the 2020-21 WIAA sports season calendar in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. The changes will create four WIAA-sanctioned seasons and will also move moderate- and high-risk team sports, originally scheduled for the fall season, to the WIAA Season 3 next spring.
