  • State volleyball tourneys rescheduled for sabbath

    The executive board of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has voted to make accommodations to the 1B and 2B Sate Volleyball Tournament for member schools that recognize the Saturday sabbath upon the recommendation from legal counsel. From this recommendation, the executive board decided the tournament would need to be altered and began to work on scheduling solutions.     1. Local ship watchers have been busy this June. On June 9, Cape Horn resident John Polworth photographed the Columbia, which lost an engine and ran aground.   • Olsen transfers to Cal State San Marcos

    8 Wahkiakum High School graduate Baylee Olsen has announced her intention to transfer to Cal State San Marcos in San Diego this fall, where she will play basketball for the Cougars. Olsen had two great seasons with Saint Martins University in Lacey. This year she set a conference record, hitting seven of seven from three point range during a game with Holy Names.
