    The Coast Guard released its first-ever boating safety application for mobile devices, May 16. The free app is available on Apple App Store and Google Play online store and is designed to provide boating safety resources to mariners using a mobile device.   • June WordFest hosts four poets who produced their own book of poems

    The June 2 WordFest will feature a group of poets who produced a book of their poetry. Two years ago, former LCC English instructor Deborah Brink Woehrmann joined with three other Portland poets to meet every other Wednesday morning. Last November they decided to compile a selection of their poems, written over the past year. Each would contribute 10 poems. They used the book creating “Espresso Machine” at Powell's City of Books.     Sophomore Cheyenne Barton and two relay teams qualified for the State 2B Track Meet after competing in the District IV 2B Championship in Raymond last Thursday.     The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is seeking public comments through June 3 on a new draft policy to improve salmon management in Willapa Bay. State fishery managers have been working since last October with a citizen committee and the public to develop draft options for a new policy for Willapa Bay salmon fisheries.
