Wahkiakum High School senior Landon Nielsen is headed to the State 2B Track and Field Meet which takes place in Yakima this year on May 25, 26, and 27. Nielsen competed in three events on Friday at W.F. West High School in Chehalis at the 2B District 4 Track Meet. Wahkiakum High School junior Avrey Wiltse-Hiatt won the 2B District 4 golf tournament at the Mint Valley Golf Course in Longview last week, leading the Mule girls golf team to their first ever 2B District 4 win. She scored a 180 in the two day 36-hole event, hitting a 91 on the first day and improving her score by two shots the following day for an 89. The Naselle Comets won their first two games in the State 1B baseball tournament on Saturday, and will face number one ranked DeSales in the semifinals at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 26 at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata.
