The Elochoman River from the mouth to the bridge at the site of the former salmon hatchery will open two weeks early to fishing for hatchery spring chinook and hatchery steelhead. Effective dates are May 23 through June 5. The salmon and steelhead daily limit is six fish of which no more than two may be hatchery adult chinook or hatchery steelhead or one of each. Lt. Colonel Duane C. Forsberg today (Thursday) took over command of US Marine Corps Combat Logistics Battalion 1 in a ceremony at Camp Pendleton, Calif. Lt. Col. Forsberg is the son of Dale and Stephanie Forsberg of Cathlamet. He entered USMC Active Reserve while in high school and has been in active duty since graduating from high school in Dallas, Ore., in 1996. The battalion will be deployed in Iraq; it will be Lt. Col.
