    Three Elochoman valley residents approached local governments this week to seek help in repairing a water line ruptured by a truck. They haven't had water since May 5, and they say they can't afford to make repairs. Land owner Steve Arness on Monday told the Cathlamet Town Council that the line ruptured under the Elochoman Valley Road when a concrete truck passed over.     Wahkiakum County commissioners discussed timber revenue and the succession process for the county public works director. Representatives of the state Department of Natural Resources said the county could expect close to $800,000 this year from harvest of state-managed county trust timber. District Manager Steve Ogden reported that timber prices had dipped in the winter but started to increase recently, indicating the 2015 timber sale could generate higher revenue than earlier estimated.     The number of sea lions and the number of salmon they’ve eaten this year in the Bonneville Dam tailrace is more than double the twelve-year average, according to a May 12 status report by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Sea lions, or pinnipeds, have caused havoc this year, both at the dam where they pick off salmon and other fish stalled in the tailrace, and lower in the river where commercial and recreational fishing has been impacted, as well as in Astoria where sea lions have taken over docks.     The mainstem and West Fork Grays River will open two weeks early to fishing for hatchery spring chinook and hatchery steelhead from May 17 through June 5 on the Mainstem Grays from the mouth to the South Fork and West Fork Grays from the mouth to the hatchery intake/footbridge. The salmon and steelhead daily limit is six fish of which no more than two may be hatchery adult chinook or hatchery steelhead or one of each. Salmon minimum size is 12 inches.
