With a trip to the state tournament already secured last week, the Wahkiakum Mules baseball team finished the District 4 2B tournament in fifth place after splitting games last week. The Wahkiakum Mules track and field team competed in the Central 2B League championships on Friday in Kalama. The Mules took 11th place out of 11 teams in boys’ competition with six points and seventh place out of 11 teams in girls’ competition with 52 points. State shellfish managers have approved a "bonus" razor clam dig on ocean beaches for three days, May 18-20. State shellfish managers with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the dig on morning low tides after marine toxin tests showed the clams are safe to eat. Educational Service District 112 is seeking applicants interested in filling the Director District #2 board position that encompasses Ocean Beach, Naselle-Grays River Valley, Wahkiakum, Longview, Castle Rock, Toutle Lake and a portion of Kelso school districts. The vacancy is open following the resignation of Rainer Houser, who served ESD 112 for five years. The Naselle High School Drama Club put on a delightful performance of Annie Jr. last weekend for the people who were lucky enough to witness it. It was a shorter version of the Broadway play complete with all the songs.
