To the Eagle: I want to thank the three log truck drivers who slowed their rigs to avoid hitting a lost and terrified dog running up and down State Route 4 west of Skamokawa last week. I also thank Stuart and Tom Bosch, my neighbors. Stuart called me late in the evening to inquire whether I was missing a dog and then, in the dark and in heavy rain, attempted to lure the dog to safety. The U.S. Postal Service will hold their annual food drive on Saturday, May 10. The Cathlamet Postal Service will be supported by VFW Post 5297, Wahkiakum Food Bank, Helping Hand and local high school students. Collection bags will be delivered to mail boxes May 5-7. The Chinook Tribal Council will hold a special General Assembly meeting on Saturday, May 10, at 11 a.m. at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco, WA. Tribal members are encouraged to attend.
