    Doug Heiner, age 75, of Ocean Park, Washington went on his final drift with the Lord on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 and is no longer in pain. Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Bernice Heiner; and his sister, Kathy Zilmer all of Altoona, Washington.     Photos courtesy of Dan Spaulding Little Island resident Dan Spaulding and his two daughters came home on Friday to find what he thought was an injured hawk at the base of one of his trees. The bird allowed Spaulding to pick it up. It appeared to have an injured leg and wing. Spaulding put it in a cage before calling local authorities, who directed him to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. They gave him the number of an animal rescue group in Olympia.     The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team returned from spring break ready to play. They beat the Winlock Cardinals twice in a double header on Saturday, 12-2 and 12-1. Terris Record pitched for the win in the first round of the double header. He threw six innings, allowed four hits and no runs, and struck out 11 batters.     The Mules golf team moved their intra-district record to 5-1-1, tying Life Christian Academy at 186 and downing defending state champs Ilwaco 200 on a dry day in Tacoma at Allenmore Golf course on April 11.     The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association is giving the public an opportunity to voice their opinions on several amendments that will come before the WIAA Representative Assembly in late April.     A body found by recreational boaters near Brookfield on April 2 has been identified as 62 year old Scott J. Baguley of Beaverton, OR. Baguley’s abandoned vehicle was found on July 21, 2016, in a church parking lot near the Lewis and Clark Bridge, which serves traffic between Longview, WA and Rainier, OR. According to Dan Bigelow, the remains were identified through a postmortem examination and a comparison of the teeth to dental records by Dr. Gary Bell, the state forensic odontologist.
