The Cowlitz Coin Club of Longview-Kelso is celebrating its 47th annual coin show on Sunday, April 26 at the AWPPW Hall, located at 724 15th Avenue in Longview. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and admission is free. At the show, the public can buy, sell and trade coins, currency, tokens and medals from numerous Pacific Northwest dealers. The Cathlamet Fire Department would like to inform the residents of the Town of Cathlamet that fire hydrant flushing will be conducted between April 9 and April 24. During this activity residents may experience discoloration in their drinking water. This is due to iron deposits in the water main becoming dislodged during the flushing of the hydrants. A non-Indian commercial gillnet fishery in the Columbia River opened for seven hours on March 31, yielding 980 spring chinook salmon with an average weight of 12.4 pounds. Some 737 of the fish were upriver spring chinook and the remaining 243 were fish destined to lower Columbia River tributaries. The Toutle Lake Ducks baseball and softball teams came to Cathlamet to face the Wahkiakum Mules on Thursday. In baseball action, the Mules lost their first game 3-6.
