Last week, WSU Master Gardeners, WSU Extension, the Wahkiakum Community Garden, and the Skamokawa Grange hosted a seed exchange at the Community Center in Cathlamet. Wahkiakum High School senior Peyton Souvenir was named the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association's 2B Player of the Year on Saturday, March 18, during halftime of the WIBCA 2B vs. 1B All Star Game. Two quarters later, she was named Most Valuable Player in the All Star Game. Every player got to play 16 minutes and Souvenir made the most of her time. The Wahkiakum Mules baseball team is off to a good start this season with two wins and a loss this week. Last Thursday the team was scheduled to travel, but the wet weather caused poor conditions in Morton, and a decision was made to move the game against Morton/White Pass to Cathlamet. The Mules golf team opened the season with a 181-211 win over Willapa Harbor's combined team of Willapa Valley, Raymond and South Bend High Schools played at Skyline Golf Course in Cathlamet last week. After spending the summer attending the Skyline Golf Camp and winning the third flight at the Mint Valley Junior City Championship, freshman Tyler St. Onge opened the season with a medalist score of 41.
