Author Jack Nisbet and Chinook Tribe Member Tony Johnson will present a joint lecture on Scottish naturalist David Douglas on Saturday, March 8 at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco at 2 p.m. Between 1825 and 1834, Scottish naturalist David Douglas traveled extensively between Cape Disappointment and the Grays River and Willapa Bay areas. On March 3 at 6:30 pm, Scott and Dixie Edwards with Watershed Garden Works will discuss how to attract beneficial insects to a garden. By incorporating specific native plants into the landscape, one can encourage helpful insects and birds to visit the yard. Often it’s the beneficial bugs that eliminate those bugs responsible for eating plants. The class will be held for free in the Fair Exposition located in Longview on the fairgrounds.
