    Wahkiakum High School senior Rayanna Carlon was the first young woman to ever represent the Mule wrestling team at the double elimination state tournament, which took place last weekend in Tacoma. She lost the first match in her weight class against Marlin Gonzalez of Federal Way after getting pinned in 2:40. She took 2:12 to pin Letiticia Garcia of Nooksack in the second round.     The Coast Guard rescued a kayaker who fell out of his kayak among some old pilings while paddling towards the Columbia River near Hammond, Ore., Sunday. A Coast Guard Sector Columbia River MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew successfully lifted the man from the water and ferried him to shore where he was met by local emergency medical services and released on site.     On February 28 at 6:00 p.m., WSU Master Gardener Jon Griffin will discuss the tips he uses to produce a bountiful crop of red tomatoes. Participants will learn how to get tomatoes off to an early start and what it takes to produce a great harvest of tomatoes.     Razor clam diggers can count on evening digs starting Feb. 23 and begin planning trips this spring to Washington's beaches after state shellfish managers announced a schedule of proposed digs through April. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) approved the opening at three ocean beaches later this month after marine toxin tests confirmed the clams on those beaches are safe to eat.     Despite some thrilling three point shooting, the Lady Mules basketball team lost their first game this year to the Kalama Chinooks in the District IV 2B Championship game, 49-67.
