At the time of the year when wrestlers need to either “come big or go home early,” the Wahkiakum Mule team showed up as large as life. Junior Blayne Edwards continued his dominating streak, pinning his opponent in the first round at 103. Freshman Mason Mackey gave the team its second champion at 119 with a repeat performance, first period pin. Jesus Cra...
The Wahkiakum Mule boys are looking to put a rough regular season behind them as they open district play this Thursday (tonight) against the Toutle Lake Ducks in Castle Rock at 6:30 p.m. Unlike previous seasons, a district seed was not automatically given to the Mules; rather they had to earn it by way of a play-in game, the Mules’ third game in five days. The three-game stretch began with senior night on Thursday versus the Pe Ell Trojans. In a game that was back and forth for much of it, the Mules ultimately came out on top with a m...

Wahkiakum County commissioners on Tuesday approved funding for just over $100,000 in capital improvement projects for 10 public entities serving the county. By state law, the funds can only be used on capital projects. Last year, county commissioners formed a committee to collect and evaluate applications for capital projects. Members included citizens Bob Hake, Lori Scott and Tony Aegerter and three county...
