    The Wahkiakum Mules boys basketball team split games this week, but continues to show great promise. Last Wednesday, the Mules lost to Adna at home 65-49. "Adna played with a lot of energy on both ends of the floor and we struggled to match up with Braden Thomas inside," Coach Todd Souvenir said. "He is a very physical and athletic player."     The Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball team won two more this week to bring their record to 6-1, 13-3, currently second place in the Central 2B league. Last Thursday, the team hosted Napavine and beat the Tigers 54-25. "Defense looked great against Napavine," Coach Rob Garrett said. "We worked together really well.     The Wahkiakum Mule wrestling team traveled to Willapa Harbor this weekend for competition. For the girls, Makayla Davis took first place in her division. Lily Hale took second place in her division. Arwynn Haney, McKenna Mendez, and Jenna Mellis all took third in their respective classes.     Here's the Monday update from the Washington State Department of Transportation about efforts to clear the slide blocking SR 4 on KM Mountain: • On Saturday, high wind and rain delayed tree removal. • Crews did not work on Sunday. • On Monday, crews began removing the final four trees and getting the disposal site prepared to haul debris. • Crews plan to begin debris removal as early as Tuesday, though the area could get another 2-3 inches of rain in the next couple of days.
