    Robert Wegdahl, 91, of Longview, was born in Vega, Norway, to August and Hilda (Pedersen) Wegdahl. He died in Longview on December 23, 2018. Robert attended Cathlamet schools. He served in the Army during World War 11, and retired as a commercial fisherman in 1995. Robert was a member of the American Legion and the Elks.     Members of Puget Island, Cathlamet, Skamokawa and District 4 fire departments will hold their annual Fill the Boot Fund Drive for Doernbecher Children's Hospital this Saturday and Sunday. Dressed in turnout gear, members of the departments, including First Aid divisions, will invite passing motorists to stop and put a financial donation in a fire fighter boot.     Paul Dretsch, a former coach for the Wahkiakum Mules girls basketball program, will be inducted into the Washington State Girls Basketball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame in March. He joins five other coaches this year as the WSGBCA's fourth class to join the Hall of Fame. Dretsch taught in Wahkiakum schools from 1977 to 1990 and coached the Mules for seven of those years. He later coached at Black Hills in Tumwater. He finished with a record of 243-66 as head coach. He coached ten seasons...

    Students in the CTE and FFA Programs at Wahkiakum High School picked up a few new skills and raised money for local charities during the six weeks preceding the winter break.
