The state legislature is considering legislation that would end requirements for cities and counties to publish legal notices in a newspaper of general circulation in their region. It's touted as a measure to lower costs and ease time demands on city and county offices. I think the effect will be to increase the disconnect between citizens and their elected officials and local government, and this legislation should be rejected.
