Naselle resident Gilbert Andrew Haataia, known to all as “Gib” died at age 80 in Astoria on November 12, 2019. His family was at his side at his passing. The son of George and Miriam Haataia, he was born in Cathlamet, Washington on May 15, 1939. Gib grew up on the family farm in Rosburg where he kept busy milking cows, making hay and tending to the farm. This is a three-day event occurring on Friday-Sunday March 6, 7 and 8, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Skamokawa’s River Life Interpretive Center/Central School/Redmen Hall, 1394 W. Lower Columbia College has announced the line-up for the Winter 2020 Community Conversations lecture series focusing on “LCC at 85,” commemorating 85 years serving the Lower Columbia region. The Wahkiakum PUD Board of Commissioners discussed recent outages, broadband, and a few other miscellaneous items at their meeting on Tuesday.
