St. James Family Center in Cathlamet will present programs on youth and family safety on April 28, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Organizers say the program will feature activities for people of all ages. Western Wahkiakum County residents told county officials Tuesday they support efforts to maintain operation of the Wahkiakum Family Practice Clinic. Wahkiakum County purchased the clinic two years ago from PeaceHealth and have seen continued expected deficits mushroom out of control. Port District No. 1 will hold an oil spill response training day next Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Elochoman Slough Marina. The Rosburg Community Club ladies will serve their annual Sunday Chicken Dinner with a large selection of salads from the buffet along with homemade pies on April 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rosburg Community Hall. A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Julia Butler Hansen National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) is now available for a 30 day public review. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) has prepared the Draft EA to provide information and analysis regarding the Refuge waterfowl hunt on the Wallace Island Unit. A Rosedale business owner is opposing a planned high density development along Skyline Golf Course. Bob Jungers, owner of Elochoman Millworks, which makes wooden doors, on Tuesday asked the Wahkiakum County board of commissioners to reject an application for the 11-unit Fairway View Estates development.
