    Wahkiakum County is working with the US Army Corps of Engineers to have dredge spoil sand deposited this year on eroding East Sunny Sands. Erosion in the area of the Nina Lou Watson residence has spread, however, and a sandbagging event will be held January 26, 8 a.m., at the Watson residence.     The Wahkiakum PUD met Tuesday to discuss computer and other issues. Westend resident Pam Anderson was present to question the board what is needed for a water connection on the Westend. After 30 minutes of discussion of engineering issues, Commissioners Kyle Gribskov and Kayrene Gilbertsen--Commissioner Carlton Appelo was absent--on Tuesday authorized hiring of an engineer to prepare bid documents and construction plans for the park.     Commissioners of Port District No. 1 of Wahkiakum County authorized installation of two more park model cabins at the Elochoman Slough Marina when they held their monthly meeting last Thursday. The port has had three of the cabins in use for about a year, and staff and commissioners said they're pleased with the results.     The Pioneer Community Association has received a grant from the Washington State Arts Commission. This $2,000 grant, augmented with a $500 grant from Wahkiakum Community Network and a gift from the estate of Helen Exum, makes it possible for the PCA to bring exceptional music events to the students of Wahkiakum County in 2008. On January 9, the Mules held off a stubborn Morton team to earn a 62-51 Central League win over the Huskies.     Revenue from the sale of Wahkiakum County trust timber should total close to budgeted figures, officials from the Washington Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday. Reporting to Wahkiakum County Commissioners George Trott, Dan Cothren and Blair Brady, the officials said they expect county revenues to total slightly over $1.9 million for 2008.     The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) declared January 9 that Wahkiakum County residents will be eligible for federal disaster relief funds for the December wind storm and flooding. Officials from FEMA and the US Small Business Administration opened a disaster recovery center in the River Street Building in Cathlamet to help people register for disaster assistance.
