Help Wanted: Victim Witness Coordinator

HELP WANTED: Victim Witness Coordinator The job of Victim Witness Coordinator supports criminal prosecution in Wahkiakum County by helping people who will be witnesses in court, and especially victims of crime, through the legal process. The Coordinator will schedule interviews and testimony, help victims advocate for themselves throughout the legal process, support witnesses through interviews with the prosecution and the defense, help victims obtain restraining orders when appropriate and restitution where possible, and offer state-mandated services such as referrals to support and assistance. The Coordinator acts as an interface between prosecutors and victims or witnesses and will support victims throughout their involvement in the justice system. The job entails administrative support and some paralegal-type duties, such as coordination of witnesses for trial and the collection of case-management statistics. Non union full time grant funded position, $21 per hour, plus full insurance and retirement benefits. Minimum Qualifications: 1. A.A. degree or experience in legal, social work, or other related field, or, experience as a prosecution or community based victim advocate or closely related field. 2. Knowledge of the criminal justice system, legal protocol and court rules. 3. Empathy for those suffering from contemporary social issues, such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and elder abuse. 4.
