    Four Wahkiakum Mule wrestlers headed to the Tacoma Dome last weekend to participate in the 27th Annual Mat Classic State Wrestling Tournament. Wrestling at 132 pounds was Luke Stacey, at 138 pounds was Alex Johnson, at 160 pounds was Kody Vik and wrestling at 182 pounds was Trystan Mendez. On the first day of wrestling competitors have to win at least one match to come back and wrestle on day two.     Wahkiakum Mules wrestlers spent the day wrestling for the District/Sub-Regional tournament on Saturday, Feb. 7th. The boys traveled to Ocosta High school and the girls went on to Aberdeen. For the boys, a long day was rewarded with all of the wrestlers making it into the final rounds.   • Mules shine in Down River Challenge

    Wahkiakum hosted the Down River Challenge wrestling tournament last weekend with 17 schools and over 160 wrestlers. Luke Stacey, wrestling at 132 pounds, was the first to take home a championship. He pinned his opponent in the championship round to take 1st place in the tournament. Alex Johnson also won his way into the championship round at 145 pounds, to face the same wrestler he lost to last year in this event.   • Mule wrestlers start at 3 Rivers Classic

    The Wahkiakum Mules Wrestling team opened up their season at Mark Morris High School at the Three Rivers Classic last weekend. In addition to several seasoned wrestlers there were a few new faces attending their first tournament ever. This is a big tournament for Wahkiakum because it brings in a lot of larger schools with stiff competition.
