    Thoms Middle School cross country runners ran their district meet on October 18 at Mossyrock. It was the third year in a row that the course had changed. No matter; this day found Shona Heywood battling at the finish line and coming up just a few feet short. She placed 2nd, behind Larkin Farrish of Morton/White Pass, with a time of 10:00 flat. Mya Kirzy was third in 11:09, Aly Kirzy, fifth, with a time of 11:34; Trynity Mendez placed 11th in 12:20, and Katy Stacey rounded out the top five placers in 15th, with a time of 14:55.     Our first outing of the season came last Tuesday at the Naselle Jamboree. Unfortunately only two teams were able to make it, Naselle and Wahkiakum. In that regard, it was a very quick meet. Naselle had no middle school girls ready yet so the Wahkiakum girls placed first and took all six top spots in this finishing order: 1. Shona Heywood 6:51.69, 2. Mya Kirzy 6:59.42, 3.
