TAKING TURNS--It's Fall; that time when you get some sun, you get some rain and everything in between. PRETTY WET--We had some pretty wet times last week but the sun came out after a rainy spell and boy, did it get steamy. The humidity was almost worse than the hot/dry days, as the mugginess was enough to make one melt. Thank goodness for AC and ice tea; both helped to cool us down a bit. The sunny weekend was great but it sure came with some cooler, super foggy mornings, so it definitely feels like Fall! RAINS RETURN--As Fall officially began there was definitely a change in the weather, as when I was headed to bed, the rain was coming down quite heavily and lightning lit up the sky and the thunder shook the house! I'd say the seasons were changing right on schedule! WARM STREAK--How did you like this past weekend? Pretty nice wasn't it?! Considering several things were going on in the area, it was great to have such nice weather for them, even though the late evening hours were a little nippy, the daylight hours were plenty toasty. SURVIVAL MODE--How did you handle the heat wave last weekend? If you were outside, I hope you slathered up in sun screen and didn't stay out there too long, as it was hot, hot, hot! It was 92 in the shade at our house and time to kick on the AC and hide in the basement as far as I was concerned. STILL WARM--Summer is still upon us as this new week begins and forecasters say it will continue all week, so folks heading out for the big Labor Day weekend should have some nice days to enjoy before the kids head back to school. JUST RIGHT--Once we got over a wild couple of days last week with thunder and lightning and pouring down rain, it wasn't too bad, albeit a bit muggy now and then. This week started out with some rain threats but forecasters can't quite make up their minds about that, so who knows what we'll really see coming by the end of the week. Please don't be fooled by the rain we had, as there is still a burn ban in effect and fines have been doled out for illegal camp fires or trash fires recently, so when in doubt, call authorities. WAS TOASTY--As the work week began, we were feeling mighty warm, as temperatures were still up in the 80's Sunday evening and were up in the mid-90's on Monday so it was pretty miserable I thought. In West Valley, we were still very hot Monday evening with no relief from any wind, while down at the fairgrounds, the wind was blowing and it must have been 15 to 20 degrees cooler, so a big discrepancy in just a couple of miles. STILL TOASTY--As we go through this first week in August, it's still pretty toasty! However, we have been quite a bit cooler than other areas where upper 90's and triple digits have been closer to the norm. As Monday evening came to a close and bedtime was upon us, it was a very nice 60 degrees here while Portland was still at 91 degrees and very muggy, so it was a great time to be here in Skamokawa! NOT SO GREAT--As this work week begins, it's a little bit wet out there, and at times, it really pours. At least there were a few breaks in the weather, but they were pretty short lived. They say drier weather is coming, so by the time you read this, you may be enjoying a very nice, dry day again. Let's hope so! Another thing that is not so great, is the fact that the internet was down all over the place. It's amazing how dependent we get on our computers for gathering information and sending communications, so when it's out, it's a huge mess....

SO SO--If you were one of those folks who went camping this Memorial holiday, I do hope you didn't get too soaked, as often times it was just a little bit on the wet side around here. Of course, while we were having rain, it was sunny and dry in Portland, so maybe you got lucky and went to an area where it was a little bit drier than we were, as it seemed to differ every 10 or 20 miles.
