SO-SO--This past weekend was Mother's Day weekend and I hope everyone had an enjoyable time in spite of some of the weather we had. WILD TO MILD--I hope the crazy weather we had last Thursday will not be repeated soon, as that was certainly something we haven't gone through in some time. We had sunshine, then the clouds came in with the wind, the sky turned black and then "ka-boom." PRETTY DAMP--After a gorgeous day last Friday, which saw temperatures climb clear up to 70 degrees, the weekend was nothing at all like that! GREAT WEEKEND--I wish the sun and dryness would have lasted a little longer, but if it were to show up, then we're sure glad it chose Easter weekend to be here, as boy, it's been awhile since we had two dry days together on a holiday! WILD ONE--Depending on where you were this past week, you may have had some really crazy weather, which included lots of wind, rain, hail or if you were headed over an area of higher elevation, even some snow! While we had a slight blip in our power and several bumps, we didn't have a major outage here, but I know lots of other areas certainly did. OFF AND ON--Last Friday was a gorgeous day and some folks were even enjoying a nice Saturday right from the start, but for those of us here in Skamokawa, it began as a cool, drippy, cloudy and well, not all that great of a beginning. Luckily, by late afternoon, the clouds parted and the sun peeked out, so that was enjoyable while it lasted, as the rains returned once again that evening. Sunday was off and on again too, so the "nice day" that forecasters predicted showed up in spurts, but it was dry enough in the afternoon to get the lawn mowed...
SOGGY--As this week begins, it's a very soggy Sunday indeed. Saturday saw some breaks in the rain at least, but if you ask me, Sunday was just a good day to hunker down and stay put inside where it was nice and dry! The week looks to be fairly soggy until we possibly get a dry day on Friday, so we'll keep our fingers crossed that we can shed the rain gear and boots and soak in some sun rays as this third month of the year comes to an end; it's flying by! HALF AND HALF--Last Thursday was totally awesome, and that sunshine sure perked everybody up for awhile. NASTY START--This past weekend began with a miserable start, as it rained and then blew some, and rained again. Luckily, we had a real nice break on Sunday, and it was terrific to see the sun shining, the river glistening, and out here in West Valley, we even had some eagles flying around. COLD SHOT--This past weekend we had another little cold spell, and yes, we did indeed see some snow falling but it didn't last too long down here. Beaver Creek had four new inches of snow by Sunday morning, so I was glad it was up there and not down here! MIXED BAG--As February came to an end, we've had some sun, some rain, some hail, some snow and some very cold temperatures, so we've had it all it seems! CHANGES--I think all of us in this area could agree that last Friday, Feb. 17, was just a gorgeous day! It was a "get outside, take a walk, hoorah for the sunshine" kind of day; very nice! MUCH DIFFERENT--This past weekend we saw some sunshine and much more pleasant conditions than the last one. No white stuff, yeah! It was nice to catch a break after all the snow and rain, which led to road closures and tons of trees coming down, so a huge relief there. NOT NICE--The weekend began with lots of rain and temps in the 40s, so when I went to bed on Saturday night to pouring rain and 45 degree temps, I didn't think much of it, other than I knew I'd wake up to a "lake" Sunday morning. DAMP--This past weekend was a bit damp off and on and a little blustery too, but considering some areas were still dealing with snow and ice, and other parts of our nation suffered through a multitude of tornadoes and flooding, I'd say we fared pretty well. FREEZING COLD/WET--From the sounds of it, many folks knew it was cold, as their power bills really took a leap this past month, and they were right as it's been down to 11 degrees here! After several nights of freezing tempertures, one just gets chilled to the bone! Of course, warming up also meant rain, and even that wasn't exactly warm, so one is still having to bring on the blankets, turn on the electric blankets and even break out the hot water bottles! MISERABLE--It got mighty cold last week in our region and depending on where you live, you got an extreme cold, down to 11 degrees here, plus some snowy or some icy conditons, along with some bitter breezes, which made things even colder. NOT BAD--If you were hanging around this area during Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, the weather was quite co-operative, as it wasn't pouring, snowing, freezing or blowing, so I was pretty happy with the "just dreary looking" weather, as it wasn't a big factor in getting to "grandma's house" for dinner at least! BRR--If you've been in our area, you will have noticed a ton of rain, and then, a big cool down and even some flakes of snow! Actually, enough snow to make it nice and white! GRAY & WET--As we ended November, I think we broke a record for being one of the wettest Thanksgivings here at our house ever, as we had 3.89 inches of rain that day! Although there were many areas who were seeing a soggy day, I don't think there were many who were seeing that kind of rainfall, lucky us! I am truly grateful that the power didn't go out and that we just dealt with the usual high water and field flooding but nothing that was extrodinarily bad.
