    The Cathlamet Town Council met Monday evening at which the Town of Cathlamet sought approval from the Town Council to apply for a Drinking Water State Revolving Fund construction loan. This loan would be for the 2nd St. and Butler St. waterline replacement and would cost an estimated $816,686. Council member Joe Baker asked if this project was essential and Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Clark responded that it was necessary to increase water pressure to the port for fire fighting.     During the Town of Cathlamet Council meeting on October 21, Wahkiakum County Sheriff John Mason presented his report for the quarter based on the past year’s calls for service, specifically addressing Town activity.     At the the joint Wahkiakum County PUD Board of Commissioners and Town of Cathlamet Council Consolidation meeting, Erin Wilson of the PUD and Sarah Clark of the Town presented the Town's 2024 budget (excluding water and sewer utilities) to better understand what the budget would look like if the Consolidation were to happen.     At the October 7th Town Council meeting, the Council heard public comments related to a variety of issues including a question of whether the library issued fines. Several other comments focused on Strong Park: a citizen had tightened up loose benches in the park, and there was a reminder that park cleanup will continue every Tuesday at 10 a.m. until the weather gets too bad to continue.     The Wahkiakum County PUD Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the Agenda, Minutes, Finances and the Action Item of awarding the sealed bid for the Puget Island Well Drilling and Testing project to Schneider Equipment, Inc. a Water Services Co. of St. Paul, OR. There was one other bid submitted by Tacoma Pump and Drilling Co. Inc. of Graham, Washington. The 2025 budget will be presented to the Commissioners at their October 15, regular meeting.     At the Norse Hall 90th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 7, there were several decendents of the founders: Sandra Contreras, Susan Brown and Reid Kenner who are descendants of Kristian O.     At the Cathlamet Town Council Monday night the Council members debated several issues. However the Resolution of Adopting Rules of Decorum for Council meetings was postponed until all Town Council members were in attendance.
