The Robo Rascals 4-H Club will be putting on a food drive to benefit St. Vincent de Paul’s Food Bank in Cathlamet. The drive will run from July 22 through Aug. 2. This group of students ranges in age from five to 14, and meet twice a month after school to learn about robotics, electrical, engineering and design for 3D printing. Robo Rascals 4-H Club will host Summer Robotics at the Cathlamet Public Library. They want to offer a chance for kids not in their club to learn and play with robots. The month of July, they will meet on Fridays at the library with the first two sessions geared towards grades K-3 and the last two sessions meant for 4th and 5th graders. A few students from the Wahkiakum High School Robotics team took their winning robot from the SeaPerch competition to the Elochoman River to see how well it would work in field studies. The goal was to find out if the SeaPerch robot would be a helpful tool in combination with live student snorkel divers for collecting Biological data in the Elochoman River. The Robo Rascals (an after school 4-H robotics club, grades K-8) took a field trip to see the robots that milk cows at the Burkhalter family farm-Grays River Holsteins. The advancement of technology has changed a lot in the last 50 years. The Wahkiakum 4-H Robotics Club brought their robots to the Senior lunch in Cathlamet on Thursday, February 8 to talk about what they are using to learn programming. An assembly was held in the middle school for grades 6-8 with a skit on what and how to recycle and then they demonstrated some robots.
