Good day everyone, just a few updates....... It has been a good year so far, we have had several events. In February we had an Appreciation Dinner for Wahkiakum County Law Enforcement, Firefighters and Emergency First Respondors. It was a great turnout. We also had a Valentine Craft Day; the children enjoyed making cards for loved ones. Pictures posted on Grays River Valley Center on Facebook. Exciting things are happening at GRVC: December 9 from 2-4 p.m., our first annual Christmas Craft Day for children of all ages. Come and enjoy some Christmas spirit, yummy treats, and some fun for everyone. December 16 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.: grand opening of the Grays River Valley Library, with coffee and cookies. Check out a book or two from our new supply of books for all ages. Also Secret Santa is being put on by the West End Food Bank on the same day. Mark your calender's for the upcoming events. The Halloween Craft day went so well we decided to have a Christmas Craft Day. It will be on December 9 from 1-3 p.m. We will make Christmas decorations for the children to take home, or help to decorate the center. If anyone has decorations or Christmas lights in good condition, they would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. The Grays River Valley Center Library received another 36 boxes of books from The Friends of the Library in Bend, Ore. So all together we have so far received 136...
We had a great turn out for the Halloween Craft Day, Hosted by Vanessa. Kids made a lot of wonderful decorations. They are hanging on the walls and windows at the center. After decorating, the kids had cake and ice cream to top off a fun filled day. The Prime rib dinner was on October 21, and was absolutely delicious. Grays River Valley Community Center @ Johnson Park is gearing up for a lot of events and fun, check it out. We welcome you to come and enjoy your Community Center, and all of the activities. Come join us for a Spook-tacular Crafting Hour on October 15, from 2-4 p.m. Bring your children, they can make their favorite Halloween decorations, pumpkins, ghosts, bats, skeletons, etc. All crafting materials are provided! Grays River Valley Center is getting ready for the annual Community Potluck. We welcome everyone to come and join us on Sunday July 23, from 12:00 - 5:00 p.m. Serving will start at 12:30 p.m. and continue to 4:30 p.m. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served by the Community Center. Feel free to bring a side dish, and enjoy family and friends, for a great afternoon. Grays River Valley Center is changing to summer hours, to allow time to enjoy the summer. The Library has new summer hours: Monday & Tuesday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Wednesday & Thursday 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Friday closed Saturday 10:00 - 2:00 pm. Sunday closed. The Library will be closed on holidays. Thank you for your support of Grays River Library. Joy Adamson is doing an excellent job of organizing all the books. Donations are welcome and we have a lot of new books, VHS and DVDs. The Sewing Room will be open by appointment only for the summer....
Looking forward to a busy month: The Grays River Valley Center Board will be at Dismal Nitch on June 10-11, from 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Concessions will include coffee and many baked items. In April, Commisioneer Mike Backman asked us for one month to keep as best we could a tally, of people using the facility. So we put up sign up sheets in every room, that is used by the public. It was truly exciting at the end of the month, when I started adding up the sign in sheets, for Grays River Valley Community Center. The Gym, Exercise Room, and Activity Room had sign in sheets, but we were not able to monitor as closely as the other rooms....
Following is an updated list of the activities at the Grays River Valley Center. Starting in February, Saturday Night Movies went back to Fridays at 7 p.m. Films are shown at the Grays River Valley Center at Johnson Park. On March 31, we will be having a double feature starting at 6 p.m. that night. Sewing Classes are on every Tuesday from 12-3:00 p.m. Bring your ideas and something to work on.
